The Darcy 38mm High Oil Probe is a reliable oil layer monitoring sensor designed primarily for use in grease separators, oil separators and interceptor systems. Engineered to detect excessive oil accumulation, the probe differentiates between oil and water levels and triggers an alarm only when the oil layer exceeds the predetermined limit.

By providing early warning of excessive oil build-up, the High Oil Probe helps maintain separator efficiency, supports environmental compliance and reduces the risk of drainage contamination.

How the High Oil Probe Works

The probe features two stainless steel conductors that operate using conductivity detection.

  • When the probe is fully immersed in water, an electrical circuit is completed between the conductors.
  • As oil accumulates within the separator, the oil layer rises around the probe.
  • When one or both conductors become surrounded by oil instead of water, the circuit is broken.
  • The probe then sends a signal to the separator alarm panel, triggering an audible and visual warning.

The oil depth at which the alarm activates is determined by the installation position of the probe below the static liquid level.
