The Klargester BioDisc Reed Switch Alarm Sensor is a vital monitoring component designed to detect the rotation of the BioDisc media shaft and provide an alarm notification if the discs stop turning. Installed adjacent to the motor and gearbox assembly, the reed switch works in conjunction with a magnet mounted to the rotating shaft or rotor.

During normal operation, the rotating magnet passes the reed switch, creating a connection that confirms the BioDisc is functioning correctly. If the discs cease to rotate, the magnet no longer passes the switch and the alarm system is activated, providing an early warning of potential drive assembly, motor or gearbox issues.

How It Works

  1. A magnet is attached to the rotating BioDisc shaft or rotor.
  2. The reed switch is mounted adjacent to the rotating assembly.
  3. As the discs rotate, the magnet passes the switch, completing the circuit.
  4. If rotation stops, the magnet no longer activates the switch.
  5. The control panel detects the loss of signal and triggers an alarm.

This simple but effective system provides continuous monitoring of BioDisc operation and helps identify faults before treatment performance is affected.
